The medieval Santa Maria del Miracle (out lady of the miracle) church

Upon the arena inside the amphitheatre, we can observe the walls of a medieval church in the form of a cross.

It was built on top of the remains of an even older Visigoth Basilica by using ashlars from the ancient roman stadium.

The temple was, with exception of the Cathedral, the most ostentatious church in Medieval Tarragona.

Hidden by a prison that was built on top of the amphitheatre in the XIX Century, it suffered the same fortune as the jail, being later almost completely demolished.
