PRETORI One of Tarragona's most outstanding buildings, it is one of the twin towers placed on both Southern corners at Plaza of Representation, built throughout the first century AD. THE ROMAN CIRCUS The circus was the biggest public building used for spectacles during Roman times. With a seating capacity of 30,000 it inherited the role of ancient horse tracks, where mainly horse-racing performances were held. Its long shape is almost an exact reproduction of the Circus Maximus (Rome, 98-117 AD). In general terms, it consisted of an area for charioteers arena surrounded by seats for the public cavea. The starting point was situated at one end and the opposite side corresponded to a curved section and a doorway porta triumphalis used by winners in the far Eastern corner.
