Monuments The Cathedral

Perched on a hilltop, the cathedral is the most important building of medieval times. Dating from around 1171, it became eventually consecrated in 1331. The facade gathers both Romanesque and Gothic styles in the lateral naves and in the big central marble body. Albeit an undeniably dignified air, it remains unfinished due to the Black Death (1348). The interior is cluttered with reliefts, tapestries and a considerable amount of chapels: The chapel of Sta. Tecla, the Immaculada Concepció's, the Holy Sepulchre, the eleven thousand Virgins' chapel... Other items not to miss are the high altar and its fifteenth-century altarpiece, the Archbishop Joan d'Arago's grave, the striking adjacent cloister and its linking door.
