Southern Catalonia, the great triangular area of land within L'Ampolla, Amposta and the coastal plain is dominated by the wide-skied landscapes of the Ebro Delta National Park. Spreading virtually over more than one hundred square miles of wetland, most of it is devoted to rice crops which produce ever-changing sceneries all over the year. A boat trip downstream from Deltebre overlooking the nearby offshore Buda island, unexpected gashes of sand and shrieking clouds of birds will make you experience the wild beauty of a swampy landscape that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
In the afternoon an optional visit to Tortosa Cathedral and La Suda completes the route to the Ebro Delta with a bit of History and arquitecture.
